So I typically write about events and topics related to my work . I was thinking about it recently and realized how many amazing experiences I’ve been offered through sharing my art as well as opportunities to learn about and connect with others . I’m truly grateful for all of it . Choosing a path of pursuing my art and following my heart as a career path is not exactly mainstream , therefore I frequently wonder if I’m doing it right , as if there’s such a thing . I do this because I love it, especially the travel , making people smile and social part. This week is Fantasy Fest in Key West, FL… My favorite place in all the land . The first time I ever visited Key West I fell in love ..within a few days I had myself booked to body paint at Fantasy Fest! Since then I’ve been spending more and more extended periods of time on my favorite island and sharing my art each time. I love Key West, riding my bike , smiling as I meditate under my favorite palm tree at Smathers Beach, my awesome artist friends ,( Ray Rolston especially for all his help and support ) , cafe con leche and my beloved roosters !!! Fantasy Fest 2014 was another success in regards to body painting in Key West! I had another amazing year painting bodies and faces in Key West during the 10 day long festival! There was a few days of rain hovering the island but that did not put a damper on the body painting! Every Fantasy Fest attendee that I painted was enthusiastic and eager to celebrate with face and body art in Key West. My favorite designs were an Owl body painting and a group of Avatars! Last week I had the opportunity to participate in a body paint demo video showcasing my body paint art and offer feedback on the process and my success in the field of face and body painting. It was an unusually chilly rainy August day- fortunately the body painting took place indoors. This was my first time painting model/actress Samantha Elmer. We had a great time chatting and creating art. As I normally do, I didnt start with a blueprint for my design. I chose a color scheme and just allowed my creativity to flow and work with colors and curves of the body. The entire body paint process took about 2 hours with some breaks in between. I paint best when not on a schedule, so this was a carefree, fun, creative body paint experience. As you can see, I also matched the body paint with a face paint design to complete the look. The video footage was shot by Alan Fenstermaker, and is currently being edited. I am especially grateful for the gift of face and body art in my life and the interest of both Alan and model Samantha for collaborating with me on this. The next big body paint event that I am looking forward to is Fantasy Fest in Key West, Florida. I truly love letting my creativity loose and body painting in Key West.
