Hurricane Irma Update Key West Artist
Hi Face and Body Art friends!! Just a note to say I’m so grateful for all the support and love I have been receiving during the Hurricane Irma situation . Fortunately, I was in PA for the actual happening… packing up to shift full time to my favorite place on Earth!!! The good news is, I am safe and so are all the people I love in the Keys. I’m asking for your patience with me over the next couple of weeks, I’m doing my best to figure everything out right now. Where I live down there, Cudjoe Key, took the eye of the storm … still unsure if I have a place to live .. or not. I’m rolling with it, keeping positive and rocking out wth paint in glitter in PA for the moment:)

Fantasy Fest is an annual 10 day festival that takes place at the end of October in Key West, FL. During the Fest, body painting is a very popular theme, alongside beads, parties, and whole lots of fun.

Body painting, just like tattoos (temporary or permanent) is a form of body expression. Where tattoos may last for years, body paint will usually stay on for a few hours. For the most part, body paint has been a preserve of festivals such as Fantasy Fest, and gives participants the chance to have their choice designs painted on them in colors they like. For you, the opportunity to be body painted by one of the best artists is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
For such events as the Fantasy Fest, Jennifer Montgomery uses a special kind of paint, thats suitable for use on the face and body. Due to her experience in the field, you should rest assured that washing off the paint will be an easy task, and that you shouldnt fear any allergic reactions. At any point before the appointment, you are welcome to ask questions and learn as much as you can about the whole process. Jennifer is more than willing to answer your queries and alleviate any concerns you have.
Apart from choosing body paint for festivals, you can have your body painted specifically for a photo shoot. The body paint adds a unique and artistic flair to the photographs, ensuring you get to see a side of yourself you wouldnt have. With body paint, the photos stand out. Fashion shows are also a great place to showcase body paint, where the paint plays to the theme of the show. For models, this is a great way to stand out from the competition.
Many have had Jennifer body paint them, with the artistry and flair of the job overwhelming them. As The Little Rock Foundation says, Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to paint faces at our holiday party they turned out beautiful!??? and Kim from PA, thank you for an outstanding job!???
Initially, Jennifer Montgomery started out as CrazyFaces Face Painting, dedicated to face painting gigs for birthday and theme parties in the Philadelphia area. As she grew her talents and creativity, so did her ability to take on much complex tasks. CrazyFaces has now grown to offer more than just face painting, and services now include airbrush tattoos, airbrush t-shirts, body paint, and henna application for any style party or event. More to that, Jennifers clientele has expanded to include those from the Philadelphia Tri-State area as well as South Florida.
Aside from business, Jennifer is an easy going, creative, and likes children. Her life revolves around creating art through paint, and she is happy she found her calling in life.
Should you wish to make an appointment during Fantasy Fest, make sure to include as much details as possible, mainly regarding the style, design, and color of the body paint you want. That way, Jennifer will be in a better position to capture your thoughts down to the last stroke.

Body Image and Body Paint
When it comes to body painting , I’ve learned that body image is a big factor for many of the women I’ve body painted . It’s understandeable, as body painting puts us in a vulnerable position … Getting painted , typically by a stranger ….naked . Furthermore , the images and messages we are fed by the media and society in general put pressure on women to look a particular way or be a certain size to be considered beautiful, feminine, sexy ,etc….. all of which I’ve found is certainly NOT the norm . Through the art of body painting, I’ve discovered that those airbrushed images we see in magazines , online , and on billboards and advertisements are simply not authentic . It was during my very first body painting that I really discovered this . I was painting a very beautiful , slender model whom was also a mother . During the painting ,she was criticizing her stretch marks from giving birth . I thought she was beautiful and hoped she would honor herself more. The end result of the painting was that she loved her art,she rocked it in the photoshoot and the “imperfections” were airbrushed out during editing. I was grateful for the experience. As a woman that struggled with an eating disorder in my past,I was always very sensitive to body image. I used to read fashion magazines and honestly believed that the models were naturally flawless. The truth is,those images are exactly that -“images”. They are manipulated and airbrushed to create a look or a desired artistic result . While I’m not criticizing that, being behind the scenes practicing my art has helped me gain perspective.A recent experience with a first time Fantasy Fest partygoer in Key West really resonated with me . It was her first body paint experience for this event. I was told by her friend ,that is an annual body paint client ,that she was a bit apprehensive about the process initially. After some design planning and conversation during the process , she warmed up to the idea. Her design was a zebra print which coordinated with a skirt she was wearing . The results were amazing … She absolutely loved her body paint which ended up matching her skirt just beautifully, it looked like it was a one piece dress when all was completed!! I was so happy for her and with the results. I was proud of the courage to go through with getting body painted and to the privilege to display my work on her body. The thing is, this art is an interactive process. I go with the flow of the process and at times am equally unsure of how it may turn out. When my client is thrilled with the art, that makes me happy.
I love my job and I especially love when a woman takes absolute delight in herself after seeing her body painted . I connect with so many beautiful ladies in my body paint experiences and feel absolute joy when they love how they feel after being body painted. In my opinion , all women are beautiful. It’s a mindset and a feeling rather than looking a particular way as far as I’m concerned . I think we should all feel amazing in our skin and celebrate who we are . Thank you to everyone that offers me the opportunity to learn , grow and connect through sharing my art – it means so much to me to have a job that I appreciate .

Highlights from The Make-Up Show NYC
I am very excited to share highlights from The Make-Up Show in New York City yesterday !Myself and Philadelphia Make-Up Artist, Tracie Gardner , attended and learned about the newest trends and products in make-up! The Make-Up Show is run by The Powder Group and travels to major cities in the US. Yesterday we attended in mid town New York City at The Metropolitan Pavillion, only a 2 hr ride from Philadelphia. We arrived at the start of the show , giving us time to browse make-up vendors like Make-up Forever , Mehron, Temptu and Graftobian, just to name a few . There was a plethora of product and an overload of amazing colors and a personal fave ….. Glitters!!!!
I am grateful to have taken classes with James Vincent, Melanie Mills, and Dani Fonseca, learning about airbrush make-up, bridal make-up, and tips and tricks in the make-up industry from highly respected professional artists .
I’m always excited to learn and share amongst like minded creatives to further my skills, knowledge and artistic growth in an industry that u love ! Stay tuned to see what I learned in the upcoming months as I post images of my new skills.
