I was sooooo excited when I received a personal invitation to apply for SKIN WARS Season 2 this past week!! Im not a big fan of “reality TV” or any TV for that matter, BUT it sure was nice to have been sought out and considered a good candidate for the show. SKIN WARS is hosted by Rebecca Romijn in 8 hour long episodes featuring the best body painters in the country engaging in a series of competitions to win cash and prizes and career boosting opportunities. The theme this year was Superhero’s, Villains, and Beyond. I painted several Wonder Woman,SuperGirl and Poison Ivy designs on women. Superman and Thor were favorites amongst the men. Not everyone stayed in sync with the theme. Some other designs that I body painted were a beautiful breast cancer pink ribbon on a lovely, joyful and delightful breast cancer survivor, corset tops, sports team jerseys, a dragon and Indian feathers just to highlight a few. I am grateful to have worked with and painted wonderful people . Its as much fun for me as it is for those being body painted in Key West for Fantasy Fest!! Theres no doubt that Philadelphia based body painter Jennifer Montgomery is passionate about face and body art. She has been in business for a decade providing face painting, body painting , henna and airbrush body art in the Philadelphia area and most recently Key West, Florida. During a recent video shoot she demonstrated her body painting art on model Samantha Elmer . The entire body painting process was captured from start to finish by videographer Alan Fenstermaker of Fenstermaker Films. After the body paint was completed, Jennifer was interviewed and described how she comes up designs,inspiration for her body paint designs, previous and upcoming events including Cigarfest, Fantasy Fest and The Kennett Square Mushroom Festival. She also spoke enthusiastically about her love for Key West, Florida and her participation in the upcoming Fantasy Fest in Key West.

Body painting is not just for parties and fun. Did you know that body painting is a great way to advertise? When a model is body painted containing a particular logo or message- it’s considered mobile advertising and that’s a great way to interact with customers, potential customers and spread the message about a brand,product, organizations, etc. Body painting is smart at trade shows, nightclub events, fairs, and festivals- all places that draw a crowd and an opportunity to create awareness of your message and attract attention.
Body painted models were mingling with the ladies in Wilmington, Delaware at the Lola’s Ladies Night Out event at the Chase Center. Philadelphia area body painter Jennifer Montgomery painted each male model with logos reflective of the event and its sponsors. One model was body painted with the Lola’s logo on his chest, the other model advertised the Smart Tarts Events logo. The feedback was tremendously positive as the painted models took a picture with each attendee on the red carpet upon arrival also while they mingled, chatted and danced with the ladies. Aside for the living art, there was shopping, drinks, food tastings and an overall good energy for the evening. It truly was a fun, and exciting event!

Some days its just fun to play with body paint and photography:) I collaborated with some creative artist friends for an impromptu body paint photo shoot in Philadelphia recently. We had lots of fun on a dreary, cold weekday morning in the studio in Philadelphia- body painting, talking, listening to music and taking pictures!Thanks to model Nideshia Singleton and Photographer Mike Pierce for the fun collaboration!
